EUROPEAN UNİON

The European Union (EU) is a political and economic organization consisting of twenty-seven member states, predominantly located on the European continent. While the foundations of the European Union stem from the establishment of the European Coal and Steel Community in 1951, today it provides services across various contemporary fields and common principles. Acting in accordance with common principles such as freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and the promotion of peace and stability, the EU takes action in various areas.

For over half a century, the EU has been ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity. It also plays a significant role in diplomacy and promotes fundamental freedoms and the rule of law, in addition to democracy.

The institutions of the European Union include the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council, the Summit of Heads of State and Government, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Court of Auditors, the Committee of the Regions, and the European Central Bank.

Within the framework of the European Union, priorities for smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth are determined. Within this scope, various collaborations are undertaken based on priority areas identified by member states, in addition to fundamental issues such as increasing the quality of education, preserving cultural richness, and developing common culture. Moreover, these priority areas are needs-based and aim for sustainability.

Significant achievements of the European Union include:

– Living in peace
– The freedom for citizens to live, study, or work anywhere within the EU
– The world’s largest single market (with the Euro being used by over 340 million EU citizens)
– Support and development aid for millions of people worldwide

Turkey is among the program countries in the funding and grant programs carried out by the European Union to communicate its projects to the public and civil society more widely and effectively.
